Profile overview
I am an electrical engineer and researcher focused on the development of control techniques for multi-agent systems. Specifically, my recent research has concentrated on the distributed control of microgrids. Regarding the industry, I have experience developing Research and Development (R&D) projects for the energy sector.
I have been a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) since 2015. Within the IEEE, I have participated in societies such as the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society and the IEEE Power & Energy Society, where I have applied my skills to promote technological development for the benefit of humanity.
In my free time, I contribute as a reviewer of scientific articles for journals from publishers such as IEEE, MDPI, and Elsevier.
Research interests 📝
My research interest lies in the development and application of distributed control algorithms. Complementary topics to my research include the intelligent control and the robust control of agent-based systems. For industrial applications, I have developed controllers for electrical microgrids and power electronics devices. Specifically, my research has investigated solving the economic dispatch problem (energy optimisation) of multi-microgrids, as well as improving the controllability of front-end converters.

Brief biography
I was born in Punta Arenas, Chile
, but I lived a significant part of my childhood in Asunción, Paraguay
. In 2009, I began my professional training in electrical engineering at the Universidad de Magallanes, Chile. My university education was carried out within the Civil Electrical Engineering programme. "Civil Engineering" is a 6-year undergraduate programme type that combines an engineering discipline —such as electrical engineering— with economics and administration (a very common degree format in Chile). In 2013, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Sciences. Subsequently, in 2015, I finished my studies, obtaining the professional title of Civil Electrical Engineer, with the highest grade ranking among the graduates of the Faculty of Engineering.

At that stage, I began working in both academia and industry. In the academic field, I worked for the Universidad de Magallanes as a part-time lecturer and analyst for the Research Directorate. As for the industry, I worked mainly as a project engineer for the oceanography and marine energy company Alakaluf Ltda. Through the experience gained in these jobs, I acquired solid knowledge regarding the formulation, management, and development of projects, in addition to developing interpersonal and teamwork skills.
My journey towards research training began in mid-2018, when I left my job at the Universidad de Magallanes to pursue a PhD in Electrical Engineering at the Microgrids Control Laboratory of the Universidad de Chile, Chile. My path led me to take advanced courses such as Intelligent Control of Systems, Power Electronics and Drives, and Advanced Distribution Systems and Smart Grids. I was supervised there by Professor Roberto Cárdenas Dobson. Since October 2020, I pursued the Dual-Award PhD between the Universidad de Chile and the University of Nottingham, UK
. Specifically, I worked with the Power Electronics, Machines and Control Group (PEMC), where I was co-supervised by Professor Serhiy Bozhko in the UK and by Professor Marcos Orchard in Chile. I graduated in 2024.
Since 2024, I have worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Universidad de O'Higgins, Chile, being supervised by Professor Claudio Burgos Mellado. Currently, I am an assistant professor at the Institute of Engineering Sciences of the same institution, and I am part of the Electrical Power Conversion Systems Laboratory (SCoPE Lab).
